Maker Henry & Albert Batson. All fully hallmarked. The pen being a later addition.
eBay item number: 362543364511

Stamp Case Poetry

In our article on embroidered stamp cases, we record many verses which appear on such cases or on their inserts which hold the stamps. A new one has just come to light which is one of the most charming:

The Head of England’s Noble Queen
On every letter should be seen
Then let our postage stamps appear
And find a safe deposit here

Dragon Stamp Box

We have a weakness for the unusual, the quirky; and this box surely qualifies. Currently a “Buy it now” item on eBay (no.: 382561202424) described as a dragon figure; who knew that dragons have the body of a tortoise!

We had an good turn-out for our drop-in session at Stampex. At least 35 people came to see us, many of whom knew little about stamp boxes; we hope we have engaged their interest.

We hope to repeat the event at next year’s spring Stampex (13-16 February 2019). So do put Saturday, 16 February 2019 in your diary and come to see us.

Stamp Box article in GSM

The September edition of Gibbons Stamp Monthly, just published, has an article about stamp boxes. It references this website and we are delighted to return the compliment by  commending the article to our readers. It is a basic introduction to stamp boxes, very informative, and the layout is a delight to the eye.
